st jordi's dragon

Though it's a bit early, I thought I'd post this little drawing of St. Jordi's dragon, from whose blood sprang a rose tree…

St. Jordi's Day is actually April 23.

  1. A nice little sketch, I like the purple and green dragon who failed to overcome St Jordi. I did not know the part of the story about the blood and rose bush, but I have learnt now that Jordi means George. That's interesting, when people who live in the north-east of England are known as Georgi's or Jordy's.

    1. Hi Jez! Thanks so much for stopping by! That is interesting - why would people in the northeast of England be called Georgi's or Jordy's? Because of St. George? My connection with this story is some friends I have from Barcelona, who celebrate St. Jordi's Day…men give women red roses, and women give men books. Fascinating.
