flowers for october

I've been admiring the hardy roses in my neighborhood, holding out through October. Here are some that give me a friendly whack in the head every time I walk by:

Some hollyhocks from back in June:

and a sunflower I met in Fairhaven, up on Little Sodus Bay.

  1. *happy sigh* tenacious flowers are the best!

those sunflower leaves are a work of art in themselves, dearest, wow. *scrolls back up to stare some more* I can SEE the texture and the - matte-nesss? - I think that's the word - of the color. Sunflower leaves are so depthlessly green!
