This morning I was admiring my coffee mug, made by Marla. You can find her beautiful creations here.

fear 2
It's recital season, and a tough season in many other ways. There's a lot of fear, floating around.
My Alexander Technique lessons are always inspiring and exciting. Today Katie and I were talking about the prefrontal cortex, and how it can talk to and mitigate the fear response which nestles at the back of the brain, telling us that everything is awful and everyone is out to get us.

studio
I spend a lot of time at this piano.
The thing hanging from one of the cupboard handles is an enormous paper snowflake, made by my friends Marla and Maren!

sea monster
A couple times ago when we visited Padraig (my friend's son, of Beat the Beet fame), he showed me a sea monster he'd drawn. I loved it so much, I went home and drew my own!

palm springs
Ansel and I went to Palm Springs to visit his grandfather. When we got there, I realized I didn't have enough pink. If you've ever been to Palm Springs, you'll know that in order to convey anything about it, you need PINK.
So we found an art store and I got some pink.
I painted everywhere. On the paper bag our bagels came in (hooray, Townies!), on the free pad of paper in our hotel, which was quite pleasingly and surprisingly close to watercolor paper, on the airplane, on the street.
palm trees :)
